60mm Photos from the Prairie

I love working in the Prairie. I find that I always get lost in this meditative trance photographing all the plants. The sunset always brings so much magic to the scene. These are just a few moments from my fieldwork with the 60mm.

The 60mm is such a beautiful lens with how it captures detail up close.

When I find a spot I like, because something stuck out to me between the composition and the light - I like to stay there for awhile. Especially with backlight because every little movement changes the light so dramatically.

I like to capture a lot of closeups but at the same time I like to step back and really see the scene. In this light with the setting sun and a nice soft backlight, the focus stays on the highlights.

I also like to look at all the details around me. The Prairie Doc has such interesting character this time of year: its all dried up and its leaves has all of these little white dots.

These photographs were captured on October 20, 2023 with the Canon EOSR and 60mm prime lens here in my hometown of Downers Grove, Illinois.
